Gionee launches new smartphone for Rs 14,999

Chinese handset maker Gionee today launched a Android KitKat-powered smartphone, GPAD G5, in India for Rs 14,999.
The GPAD G5 comes in with a 5.5-inch screen protected by Asahi's Dragantrail glass, it said in a statement.
The smartphone sports a 8 megapixel rear camera, 2 megapixel front snapper and an 8 GB internal memory, it added.
The handset has 1 GB RAM and is powered by HexaCore 1.5 GHz processor and features dual crystal loud Speaker with DTS.
"There is a huge demand for premium features at affordable prices, and keeping the consumer preferences in mind we have introduced the device which is high on features and easy on the pocket," Gionee Smartphones India Head Arvind Vohra said.

The company also unveiled some notable trends regarding mobile video in India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia, it said in a release.
The most remarkable shift is that greater numbers of consumers are viewing more and more long form content, it added.
What were previously non-data-users are now beginning to try out mobile video and have progressed to being habitual consumers. And we are seeing habitual users increase their consumption of content as well.
At a macro view, full-length movies are gaining popularity on mobile, while music and sports are also favourites.
From a regional perspective, Vuclip found that horror movies and TV shows are gaining momentum and popularity in India, although they have not quite yet hit the leaderboard below.
The Middle East is engaged with lively TV shows primed for Ramadan.

Videocon launched the V-Style portfolio under a campaign 'India Ka Naya Style Vstyle', which has a regional essence in it and will be used across major markets in India combining the richness of India's traditions and regional values along with the stylish elements, it added.
The company targets youths within the age group of 15-35 years in SEC B and C towns with focus on cities across Tier II and III.
