According to the police, Soni Kumari lived with her parents and younger brother and the incident came to light when her mother went to her room to call her for lunch and found her hanging from the ceiling fan.
The girl had used 'chuni' to hang herself. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination at Guru Teg Bahadur hospital, said a police official.
According to sources, the girl took the extreme step as she was disturbed due to eve teasing.
"We are questioning her parents to know the exact cause behind her suicide. No suicide note has been recovered from the spot," said a police official.
