DCDD Kankar Prasad Barui of Bidhan Nagar Commissionerate said personnel of the Child Welfare Committee went to the 'Viswavidyalaya' after receiving complaints that girls were confined inside its building.
Employees of the 'Viswavidyalaya' initially tried to stop the entry of Child Welfare Committee officials, who were accompanied by policemen, but later allowed them in, Barui said.
A girl was rescued from there and sent to a government home, Barui said, adding the 'Viswavidyalaya' was illegal.
