Creator Ryan Murphy announced that the next season of the musical will be its last and revealed that the untimely death of Monteith had forced him to come up with a different ending for the show, reported E!Online.
"The final year of the show, which will be next year, was designed around Rachel (Lea Michele) and Cory/Finn's story. I knew what the last shot was, he was in it. I knew what the last line was, she said it to him," Murphy said.
'Glee' said goodbye to Monteith in last week's emotional episode 'The Quarterback'. It also honoured the actor's legacy.
