The city of Uday Shankar witnessed the first contemporary world dance meet with global champions showing steps to the new converts and pros from all over country at the International Dance Fiesta 2013.
Runners up of the Asia Open Salsa Championship Zynthia said, "I discovered a new form of dance in this part of the world. A unique blend of aesthetics, indigenous culture and contemporariness all blended perfectly to make it a celebration of youth and life."
After having set the dancing floor on fire with their renditions of Salsa, Bachata and Zumba, the participants walked the ramp at 'Nnoni fashion walk' attired in sarees and lehengas and looking in every inch as Indian women,Zynthia, who partnered Gabriel in dance conclaves, as Colombian dance team said "Latin America and India are worlds apart. But our bond is one that is transnational and has evolved over time. We are a culture that has held dear the verses of Pablo Neruda and Lorca, been enchanted by the art of Salvador Dali and Frida Kahlo".
"For instance here you can see true Indian dance forms - not the filmy Bollywood type - bhngra, chacha cha, in unadulterated form minus typical hip swaying and there is a magical connect with your dance and our salsa," a young Brazillian dancer said.
World Champions in Salsa Open Jhon and Milady, Guinness World Record Holder Satyaki Saha of Nach Baliye 5 fame, salsero Neeraj Maskara, came to the city for attending the event for the first time.
"An amazing experience to interact with the leading names. We were shown steps in Tango, Reggacton, Zumba, Jive, besides Salsa, Rock and Roll. I think it is a great stress-reliever. Don't feel I am a rookie any more. It is a so graceful. Will do regularly from now on. Time is not a problem, willpower counts, " Puja Bose, a media professional, participant, and salsa enthusiast, said.
