suspected Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) militant after detecting a powerful IED bomb at the roadside in Meghalaya's South Garo Hills district, police said.
The remote-controlled IED was located at Badimagre on Chokpot-Tura road at around 2:30 in the afternoon, they said.
One person who was suspected to be a GNLA cadre was also arrested from the area, additional SP Abraham T Sangma told PTI.
The bomb disposal squad successfully destroyed the bomb in the presence of a magistrate at 7:30 pm, he said.
According to the officer, a case was also registered and a thorough investigation into the matter was initiated.
