After winning three seats in the 2017 assembly polls, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) plans to expand its base in other constituencies.
The fledgling outfit today announced a plan to venture into other constituencies in Goa, which has 40 assembly seats, without disturbing current equation with its coalition allies.
The Vijai Sardesai-led party is part of the BJP-led ruling coalition whose other members are the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and three independents.
The party won Fatorda, Siolim and Saligao seats in the February assembly elections.
"Party president Vijai Sardesai would direct office- bearers and his ministers to start visiting and spreading the party's ideology in other constituencies without disturbing the representatives who are part of the coalition government," GFP spokesman Trajano DMello told a press conference here.
D'Mello claimed grassroots leaders like Panchayat members, Zilla Panchayat representatives and municipal councillors, among others, have met Sardesai and expressed their desire to join the regional party.
"Sardesai has been very active in taking up various issues that affect Goem, Goemkar and Goemkarponn (Goa, Goans and Goanness)," he said.
