Sub-inspector Abhishekh Gomes, attached to Ponda Traffic Cell, died in the incident this morning, while the truck driver fled. Gomes was trying to stop the truck.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who visited the deceased officer's house later today, said it was a murder.
"Of course it is a murder. The truck driver ran over the officer who was discharging his duty," Parrikar said.
The truck is registered in Punjab.
