"We are thrilled to announce the first edition of the Serendipity Arts Festival, which we believe will change the way art is consumed in India. We understand the eminent need to break the conventional compartmentalisation of art in India, wherein every discipline is evolving in isolation," Preeta Singh, the festival director told reporters here.
"Through this festival we aim to bring together all these disciplines on one collaborative platform to achieve even bigger creative outcomes. We are celebrating diversity in art with a special focus on visual, performing and culinary arts, each of which will be led by renowned artists with distinct backgrounds," she said.
These six venues range from historic Portuguese structures to modernist marvels, namely - The Adil Shah palace, Jardin Garcia d'Orta, Entertainment Society of Goa, Kala Academy, Bandodkar Ground and SAG Ground.
"Audiences will get to engage with the arts in beautiful, carefully designed and often, unconventional settings.
Most venues will be within walking distance of each other and the Festival will provide transit/ shuttle options.
Singh said the festival will be curated by a panel of experts spanning all the major disciplines - the performing arts, visual arts, and culinary arts.
Celebrated curators Riyas Komu, co-founder and secretary of the Kochi Biennale Foundation and Ranjit Hoskote, celebrated poet and cultural theorist are also a part of the panel," Singh said.
The curators for Performing Arts are notable names from the fields of music, dance and theatre.
These include Sanjeev Bhargava, cultural honcho and Founder and Director of Seher and Tanusree Sankar, internationally acclaimed dancer.
Lending their musical expertise, Ranjit Barot, globally recognized drummer, singer, music composer and music director, and Shubha Mudgal, acclaimed Indian Classical singer and music composer will be present.
The Culinary Arts bandwagon will be led by celebrated Chef Manu Chandra and Odette Mascarenhas, eminent food columnist and founder of Goan Culinary Club - a non-profit venture which strives to preserve the authenticity of Goan cuisine.
Singh said workshops, lectures, conclaves, and a host of pedagogical platforms will be led by leading artists and educators to create exciting opportunities for learning at the event.
