The state will like to have more share in the organisation of IFFI 2013, including the decision on inviting the chief guest for the ten-day-long event, held annually in October-November, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar told PTI.
"The majority of powers should come to us," he said.
IFFI has been held in Goa since 2004.
The Directorate of Film Festival (DFF), a wing of Union ministry of information and broadcasting, which is a co-organiser with the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), has been taking major decisions regarding IFFI. The ESG was only handling logistics.
The ESG would be holding a special meeting on July 23 to decide on the MoU and appointment of Wagh as the chairman of ESG, which has been conventionally headed by the chief minister.
