Goel meets Puri over sealing issue in Delhi

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Vijay Goel today met Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri to discuss the issue of ongoing sealing drive being carried out by municipal corporations in the national capital.

In a written statement, Goel said that the situation is "alarming" and has created an "environment of panic and fear" among traders and various stakeholders in Delhi.

"It is sad that on one hand we are witnessing the sealing drive as per the Supreme Court's Monitoring Committee decision but on the other hand there is rampant illegal construction across Delhi," he said in the statement.

It stated that there must be an advertisement to enlighten masses on the facts and "myths" of sealing.

Goel further stated that as there are multiple civic bodies and agencies, there is lack of coordination and multiplicity of decision making is leading to a chaotic and confusing situation.

He stressed the need to initiate a mega plan by the Centre that would help in all-round development of the national capital irrespective of roles of various civic bodies that exist at present.
