Gogoi appeals to Gauhati Bench and Bar to resolve stalemate

Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today appealed to the Bench and the Bar of Gauhati High Court to resolve their stalemate over lawyers' decision to boycott the HC Chief Justice in the interest of litigants and the state.
The High Court Bar Association had on Monday last decided to indefinitely boycott the court of Chief Justice K Sreedhar Rao to protest against his decision to shift all PILs of Itanagar and Kohima benches to the Assam capital.
The Association had also protested against the Chief Justice's decision to appoint an amicus curiae for all PILs registered at the Gauhati High Court.

Gogoi said in a statement that the Bench and the Bar of the Gauhati High Court could resolve the stalemate in a cordial and amicable manner in the interests of the state and the litigants.
