In contrast, silver recovered on good speculative offtake amid industrial demand.

Standard gold of 99.5 per cent purity eased by Rs 30 to close at Rs 30,400 per 10 gm from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 30,430.
Pure gold of 99.9 per cent purity also moved down by Rs 45 to end at Rs 30,535 per 10 gm from Rs 30,580.
However, silver ready (.999 fineness) rose by Rs 220 to close at Rs 58,390 per kg against weekend level of Rs 58,170.
In Europe, Gold climbed on strong euro. Spot gold was bid up at USD 1,667.59 an ounce in early trade today while silver was bid higher at USD 30.71 an ounce.
