Golden Jackal rescued near Sanjay Van in south Delhi

A nearly six-month-old female Golden Jackal was rescued after it was found injured in a road accident on the periphery of Sanjay Van in south Delhi, a wildlife NGO said today.
The animal is undergoing treatment, and upon recovery, it will be released into the natural habitat, the Wildlife SOS said.
The NGO said it had received a call from a passer-by yesterday that the jackal had fallen victim to a road accident in Kishangarh village, located on the periphery of the dense forest.
"Identified as a female of approximately six months, the jackal had sustained external injuries on the body and neck region," the NGO said.

Kartick Satyanarayan, co-founder of Wildlife SOS, said: "Our dedicated team of veterinarians is carrying out the necessary treatment for the injuries sustained by the jackal."
The Golden Jackal, (canis aureus), also known as the common jackal or Asiatic jackal, belongs to the canidae family and is native to the Indian Subcontinent.
This species is protected under Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
