Three masked gunmen came in a motorbike and demanded that the bag containing money be handed over to them when he was returning home along with a friend.
As he refused, they shot Amar Singh Hazari (35) dead, and fled with his bag containing Rs 50,000 at about 11.30 PM last night, according to a complaint lodged with the police by his friend Chand Kader Gazi.
Gazi, another Maharashtrian who used to staying with Hazari at Chakdaha, was at the spot when he was killed.
Hailing from Khanpur in Sangli district of Maharashtra, Hazari used to return home late along with Gazi.
