The Governor sent congratulatory messages to Ilayaraja and R Nagaswamy, awarded Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan respectively, besides the four persons selected for Padma Shri, a Raj Bhavan release said here today.
The Governor "praised the simplicity, hard work, sincerity and the talented genius of music composer Ilayaraja", the release said.
Ilayaraja has been chosen for the country's second highest civilian honour, after the Bharat Ratna.
Further, in his congratulatory message to archaeologist Nagaswamy, Purohit stated that he had "contributed enormously" to the field of archaeology, particularly in Tamil Nadu.
