Govt direction on currency notes

Puducherry government today directed consumer cooperative societies, milk booths, petrol and diesel retail outlets of public sector oil marketing companies and government hospitals and counters in bus terminals to accept Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes demonetised by the Centre, till midnight of November 11.
Secretary to Department of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs S Sundaravadivelou that in case the societies and other institutions do not have sufficient cash for rendering change to the consumers after transactions or purchase tokens can be issued for the amount to be rendered to consumers which could be redeemed later on.
