The decision to send the secretaries was taken at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Pulok Chatterjee.

The officers, during day-long visit this weekend, would assess the ground situation of preparedness of the 34 identified Schemes for Direct Cash Transfers.

In the first phase, 41 districts across 16 states and Union territories have been identified for the rollout.

The officers have been requested to meet the District Collector along with the lead bank managers, UIDAI officials, officers from NIC and officers concerned of the district level departments, sources said.

Thereafter, they will spend some time in visiting the enrolment stations and camps organised by the collectors for the purpose of accelerating the preparations for the rollout, they said.

The officers will also meet Chief Secretaries and secretaries of the concerned departments, officers from NIC, UIDAI and officers concerned.

The programme also envisages a switch from the present electronic transfer to bank accounts of the beneficiary to transfer of benefits directly to Aadhaar seeded bank accounts of the beneficiaries for the identified 34 schemes in 43 districts of 16 States and union territories.
