Opposition parties led by Congress today accused the government in Lok Sabha of not following parliamentary conventions by pushing through bills without following established procedures.

As soon as the House met, Leader of Congress Mallikarjun Kharge said government has brought a few bills which were not discussed in Business Advisory Committee headed by the Speaker.

"Government wants them passed. We have no issues with their passage but they should have been discussed," he said.

Mulayam Singh Yadav (SP) and Saugata Roy (TMC) supported him, prompting Speaker Sumitra Mahajan to say she has understood their sentiments and will talk about it later.

Kharge said government is doing so on the strength of its majority in the Lower House but it should be respectful to the procedures.

Several opposition parties have been accusing the government of bringing bills as supplementary business, which does not allow them to study the proposed legislations.
