K Purushotham Reddy, Director (Planning) at the HMDA, was suspended after the case was filed.
He was absconding ever since the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted searches at his house and office on February 2 after registering a case of amassing illegal wealth.
The anti-graft agency had also issued a lookout notice for him.
Reddy today surrendered before an ACB court which remanded him in judicial custody till March 1.
The ACB may seek his custody for questioning and take the investigation forward, a senior official of the bureau said.
The properties amassed by him were disproportionate to his known sources of income, the ACB had said earlier.
