The government wants to develop a cluster to boost cardamom industry in Idukki in Kerala, Union minister Piyush Goyal said on Wednesday.
Idukki is a leading producer of cardamom.
"We will certainly like to develop a cluster in Idukki," the Minister of Commerce and Industry told the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour.
He was responding to a supplementary question related to cardamom industry in Idukki.
The minister also said that there is no proposal to set up a branch of Spices Board at Paramkudi in Tamil Nadu.
Currently, the Board has three regional offices in the state at Chennai, Bodinayakanur and Erode.
