"The drive initiated to retrieve state land from encroachers in several areas of the district is in full swing, the district administration has succeeded in retrieving 6.5 acre of state land from encroachers," an official spokesperson said today.
In Mari village, the land has been retrieved from Krishan Lal, who had dismantled a Bowli (water source) and encroached upon the land for his personal use, he said, quoting deputy commissioner Reasi Sushma Chauhan.
The Chowkidar and the Numberdar of the village have been suspended for not reporting the matter to the authorities and a case was also registered against them, the Spokesperson added.
