Senior CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami today said the Centre should send an all-party parliamentary delegation to hold talks with all the stake holders in Kashmir.
"The situation is very critical and dangerous with the narrowing down of mainstream politics. Ignoring this situation would not only be painful for the state and country but would be a blunder.
"So GoI should immediately send an all-party delegation of Parliamentarians to hold talks with all stake holders including separatists in Kashmir," Tarigami told reporters here today.
"The need is to take immediate confidence building initiatives. We have shared the pain of Kashmir which is passing through the worst type of situation.
The unrest is very deep in Kashmir today. It is more critical and dangerous than it was in 1990 in some ways. The dimensions are very severe," Tarigami, also MLA, said.
He further said, "The government should understand it is a grave human tragedy. What is happening in Kashmir is a manifestation of accumulated anger and not a mere killing."
Taking a dig on the silence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the situation in Kashmir, he asked him to speak up.
"Thousands of people are injured but the PM is mum", he said.
"If the situation is ignored, I will tell you it will trigger a big fire which will be beyond control and it would only give pain to the country and people of Kashmir," he said.
Hitting out at the Government for failure to learn lessons from the 2008 and 2010 unrest, he said, "Government should accept it is a political problem and needs a political treatment."
"Number of injured are lying in different hospitals and crying for support and medicare facilities. Unfortunately, Prime Minister has not spoken about this serious situation," he said.
