The government intends to complete the budgetary exercise within this week in Lok Sabha, with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley set to reply to the debate on the Finance Bill on Thursday.
Jaitley, according to sources, will reply to the debate on Finance Bill after his return from Frankfurt, where is scheduled to attend ADB's annual general meeting.
Jaitley will leave for Frankfurt tomorrow.
The government will take up the guillotine with regard to demands for grants for all remaining Ministries tomorrow, completing the second phase of the budgetary exercise.
The debate on the Finance Bill will be initiated on May 4 by Minister of State for Finance Jayant Sinha and Jaitley will reply to the debate the next day. Finance Bill deals with the taxation proposals of the government.
Sources added the Rajya Sabha will complete the debate on Finance Bill next week.
They said that 'The Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2015', which was introduced by Jaitley in Lok Sabha on December 21, 2015, will be taken up for consideration and passage immediately after the Finance Bill has been passed.
The 30-member Joint Committee of Parliament, constituted to scrutinise the Bankruptcy Code, headed by BJP member Bhupender Yadav, has already submitted its report on April 28.
The Lok Sabha has completed discussion on the demands for grants for Ministries of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Social Justice and Empowerment and Development of North Eastern Region.
