Haryana government has decided to earmark the areas where illegal mining is being carried out and initiate strict legal action against the violators, state Mining minister Nayab Singh said here today.
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today held a review meeting with the officials of Mines and Geology Department and discussed at length the measures to curb illegal mining in the state.
Reiterating the State government's commitment towards providing sand and gravel at lower prices, Singh said mining work had started in some places after creation of small blocks, and new blocks for mining would soon start at some places.
"E-tendering of block for mining on Ghaggar river from Panchkula to Ambala would soon start as clearance has been received from Environment Department in this regard," Singh told reporters after the meeting.
Asked about regarding biomass project in Haryana, the Minister said soon pilot project would be launched.
Under this, agricultural residues would be collected and sent to biomass plant, which would also provide economic benefits to farmers, he added.
