In order to improve the public transport system and discourage people from using private vehicles in the national capital, Delhi government will soon introduce modern, comfortable and pollution-free buses for commuters in the city.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was addressing students at a programme focused on 'Earth Day' here, said that his government is preparing an elaborate plan for keeping Delhi's environment clean and green.
Government would improve the public transport system in Delhi and for that, it will bring modern and comfortable, pollution-free buses in order to discourage the masses from using private vehicles, Kejriwal said.
The CM also urged the children of the school to urge their parents to use public transport in order to save the city from traffic hazards.
He said that his government is serious towards environment and it is having discussions on environment issues, climate change, traffic hazards, air and water pollution, sanitation, greenery and energy conservation.
"Government is preparing an elaborate plan for keeping Delhi's environment clean and green," he said.
Kejriwal also recalled the success of Delhi Government's "say no to crackers" campaign and massive support and cooperation by students and children in avoiding crackers.
"Now, I appeal all of you (students) to tell your parents to use public transport and discourage private vehicles in the same spirit". He said.
Environment minister Asim Ahmed Khan, who was also present at the programme, gave away prizes to the winners of a drawing competition on water conservation organised by eco-club students.
