Gram, arhar drop by up to Rs 500 per qtl on low demand

The wholesale market remained weak for the second day as prices of gram and arhar prices plunged by up to Rs 500 per quintal on fall in demand from retailers against sufficient stocks.
Traders said besides considerable fall in demand from retailers, adequate stocks in the market on an improvement in supplies, mainly kept pressure on gram and arhar prices.
In the national capital, Gram dropped to Rs 9,200-9,400 from previous level of Rs 9600-9,900 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality were down by Rs 300 each to Rs 10,000-10,300 and Rs 10,400-10,500 per quintal.
Besan Shaktibhog and Rajdhani quoted lower at Rs 4,350 each instead of Rs 4,400 each per 35 kg bag. Kabli gram small variety slipped to Rs 9,800-10,500 from previous level of Rs 10,000-10,500 per quintal.

Arhar and its dal dara variety also declined by Rs 200 each to Rs 5,100 and Rs 6,900-8,700 per quintal.
