It was later destroyed by the bomb disposal squad (BDS) of Jammu and Kashmir police.
Suspected militants hurled a grenade towards the patrolling party of security forces at Handwara main chowk, 80 kms from here late last night, a police officer said.
He said the grenade failed to explode and was subsequently destroyed by the BDS.
