Bill Murray-starrer 1993 comedy classic 'Groundhog Day' is getting a musical stage adaptation will bow on Broadway in 2017.
The new collaboration between 'Matilda' composer Tim Minchin and director Matthew Warchus was adapted by screenwriter Danny Rubin from the hit comedy, said the Hollywood Reporter.
The project reunites much of the key creative team from 'Matilda', the acclaimed musical adaptation of Roald Dahl's novel.
The Harold Ramis-directed movie followed a misanthropic TV weatherman Phil Connors. He is unhappy with his latest assignment to cover the annual Groundhog Day event. When a blizzard prevents his return to the city, he gets caught in a time loop, with the same day repeating over and over again.
