They will be paying the toll digitally, instead.
GSRTC managing director Vijay Nehra said this had become possible because of the use of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, which enables 'e-tolling' (digital payment of toll).
GSRTC acted on NHAI's directive to adopt the RFID technology, he said.
Under the system, toll is deducted directly from prepaid account of vehicle user when the vehicle passes through the toll plaza.
Nehra said this will help the state bus service save several crores of rupees as it would cut down fuel consumption. It will also reduce congestion at the toll plazas.
