Gujarat BJP expresses confidence in winning local body polls

BJP leaders held a meeting of the Gujarat state executive committee at Gandhinagar here today and expressed confidence that the party would win local body elections in the state scheduled for October, with a huge margin.
Those present at the executive meet include in-charge of Gujarat BJP Dinesh Sharma, national General Secretary Purushottam Rupala, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, Gujarat state BJP President R C Faldu, Vice President I K Jadeja as well as several other ministers, MLAs, MPs and district unit presidents, according to a BJP release.
Sharma asked BJP leaders and workers to start working to achieve victory in election for six municipal corporations along with 253 municipalities, 26 district panchayats and 208 taluka panchayats, the release said.
Rupala also asked workers to get their act together and reach out to people. He asked workers to become a bridge between people and government, it said.
Keeping elections in mind, Faldu asked workers to make people aware about path breaking schemes launched by the state government in the last one year. He also urged the workers and party leaders to ignore malicious propaganda being spread against CM Anandiben Patel, Gujarat BJP media convener Harshad Patel, the release said.
Since both Modi and Patel are scheduled to complete an year of their rule in the Centre and Gujarat respectively this month, the committee also proposed to hold various programmes across the state to celebrate the occasion, it said.
