Gujarat has received 100.84 per cent of the long period average (LPA) rainfall so far in the current monsoon season, with a dozen districts receiving more than 100 per cent of precipitation, a government statement said today.
Out of 810 mm of average rainfall during the monsoon season, the state has received 816.87 mm so far, it said.
"The state has received 100.84 per cent of LPA rainfall so far this season. There are as many as 12 districts which have so far received more than 100 per cent of LPA rainfall," it said.
Morbi has received 186 per cent of rainfall, Banaskantha 184 per cent, and Patan 159 per cent.
Surendranagar, Gandhinagar, Sabarkantha, Botad, Mehsana, Rajkot, Valsad, Gir Somnath and Jamnagar received 148, 147, 123, 120, 110, 110, 104, 103, and 100 per cent of the long period average, respectively, it said.
More than 104 tehsils in the state have received over 100 per cent of rainfall, it said.
The state's 203 big and small dams have received 3,50,626 million cubic feet water, which is 63 per cent of their total water storage capacity, it said.
As many as 43 dams are brimming to their full capacity, while 61 dams have so far received more than 70 per cent of their total capacity. 25 dams have received between 50 and 70 per cent of total capacity, it further said.
The Narmada dam has so far received 60 per cent of its total water storage capacity.
The release quoted Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel as saying that rainfall has helped in Kharif crop sowing, especially in areas covered under the irrigation limit.
Crops like Paddy, groundnut, soybean, and pulses have received abundant water due to good rainfall, and sufficient water storage in dams will help crops like cotton, he said.
