Gunbattle near LoC after Army intercepts a group of militants

Army today intercepted a group of militants near the Line of Control (LoC) in Tangdhar area of north Kashmir, triggering a gunbattle, Army said.
Troops confronted a group of militants moving close to the LoC, an army officer said.
The militants were asked to surrender but they opened fire, he said, adding the troops retaliated and an encounter started.
The gunbattle was going on when the last reports came in, he said.
There was no immediate report of any casuality on either side, he said.
The officer said it was not immediately known whether the militants were trying to sneak into this side from across the border.
