Gur tumbles on arrival of new stock

Gur prices slumped by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today largely on arrival of new stock amid weak demand.
Besides, fall in sugar prices too weighed on gur prices.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also showed a a weak trend with prices falling sharply by up to Rs 500 per quintal.
Marketmen said arrivals of new stock in markets from manufacturing areas along with limited offtake, mainly contributed to the steep fall in gur prices.
In Delhi, gur Chakku and pedi prices plunged by Rs 200 each to settle at Rs 2,700-2,800 and Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal.
Dhayya prices also dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 3,00-3,100, while Shakkar prices slipped by Rs 100 at Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku prices nosedived by Rs 500 to Rs 2,450-2,650 per quintal.
Also, gur Khurpa plummeted by Rs 300 to Rs 2,325-2,450, while Laddo by Rs 225 at Rs 2,600-2,650 per quintal.
Higher supplies also pulled down gur Raskat prices by Rs 100 to Rs 2,350-2,400 per quintal.
Coming to Muradnagar, prices of gur pedi fell by Rs 100 at Rs 2,500-2,600 per quintal.
Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):
Gur chakku Rs 2,700-2,800, pedi Rs 2,800-2,900, dhayya Rs 3,000-3,100 and shakkar Rs 3,100-3,200.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,350-2,400, chakku Rs 2,450-2,650, khurpa Rs 2,325-2,450 and Ladoo Rs 2,600-2,650.
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,500-2,600 and dhayya Rs2,650-2,700.
