Academic knowledge is required but in the present competitive world skill development and education has to go side by side in order to build up proficiency among the younger generation, Acharya said while addressing the golden jubilee celebration of Kohima College Kohima (KCK) here.
KCK was founded by four far sighted individuals Dr Neilhouzhu Kire, Late Dr Satuo Sekhose, Late Vibeilie Solo and Late Vilalhoulie Belho from Kohima Village in 1967. It was taken over by the State Government in February 2006.
Addressing a gathering of alumnus and students, Acharya said educational institutions needs to harness on the talents of young boys and girls irrespective of where they are so as to make Nagaland a prosperous and golden State.
He also said that educational institutions should not only be the centre of academic knowledge rather it should be a source of inspiration to the younger generation who are striving for excellence.
The Governor was also of the view that universities and colleges should also be agents to create awareness on the development projects initiated by the government for the welfare of the common people.
Expressing happiness that the College has produced over 10000 alumnus who are engaged in different fields and also state legislators during the past 50 glorious years, Acharya said achievers should be givers with an ultimate goal of strengthening the society, state and country.
Director of Higher Education Department, Kuholi Chishi assured that the department will give their best of what they can to support and encourage the activities of the institute and commitment to share the responsibilities so that the institute grows well in excelling the best education.
