Guv calls for blend of old and new knowledge of agriculture
Press Trust of India Kalyani (WB) West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi today said a blend of modern practice of agriculture and the traditional knowledge of Indian farmers would provide a better result in agricultural productions.
A well planned action programme is required to develop agriculture, the governor said at the 19th convocation of the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya here.
Stating that both the central and state governments are looking into problems faced by the farmers, he asked students and scientists to pay attention to the problems in agriculture occurring due to global warming.
He also stressed on issues like indiscriminate use of pesticide in agriculture and arsenic related problems.
A total of 998 students of Ph.D, M.Sc, M.Tech, B.Sc, B.Tech received certificates at the convocation.
