Guv praises social security programmes of Centre, state

Kerala Governor Justice (retd) P Sathasivam today lauded the Centre and state governments' various social security programmes launched to benefit the people.
In his message on the eve of Independence Day, he also showered praise on the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for making the country proud with the historic Mars mission 'Mangalyaan'.
"Launched by the Government of India, the Social Security Schemes-the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Atal Pension Yojana are indeed welfare projects that are sure to benefit the vast majority of our people," former chief justice of India said.
The state government's initiatives in expanding the umbrella of social safety-net through various programmes like mass contact programme of the Chief Minister, Karunya, Snehapoorva, etc are quite laudable, he said.

"Among India's major achievements last year was the historic launch of Mangalyaan into Mars Orbit. The Indian Space Research Organisation has had a glorious year that made our country proud in the Great Hall of Nations. ISRO repeated its triumph of launching GSLV Mark III vehicle as per schedule," he said.
Justice Sathasivam also said Independence day is an ideal occasion for everyone not only to pay regard and respect to national leaders, but also to renew pledge to protect and preserve the integrity and glory of India as a strong and peace-loving nation.
