"It is a controversial issue. I should not say anything on this," Tripathi told reporters on the sidelines of 7th National Science Film Festival & Competition - 2017 here.
Tripathi, who inaugurated the festival today, was asked by the media to comment on Ghosh's remarks questioning the economist's contribution to the state and India, at a programme last week.
"No political question here please," the Governor also said on the sidelines of the programme.
On Saturday, the BJP leader had launched a diatribe against the Nobel laureate saying, "A fellow Bengali among us has won the Nobel Prize and we are proud...But, what has he done for the state? What has he given to the nation? No one in Bengal understands him.
