Guv stresses on important of discipline among students

West Bengal Governor and Chancellor of Gour Banga University K N Tripathi today stressed on the importance of discipline among the students.
Addressing the second convocation of Gour Banga university here Tripathi said discipline is indispensable.
He said the students and scholars who are passing out today, must remember that they are going to enter the job market.
The knowledge and education that they have received in this institution, "I am sure, will equip them to face the challenges of a future in which they may reap rich rewards provided they remember the values of honesty, integrity, efficiency and leadership, Tripathi said.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Gopal Chandra Mishra in his welcome address said we have already started from the academic session 2016- 17 the departments of Law, Library and Information Science and Physiology.
Mishra said the university has also received permission to open two other new departments namely the Department of Food and Nutrition and the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism from the session 2017-18.

Convener, Convocation Committee and Controller of Examination Dr Sanatan Das said we have given DLit to renowned singer Dwijen Mukhopadhyay and the renowned Sanskrit scholar Prof Pranab Roy.
DSc was conferred to Mahan Maharaj the famous Mathematician and researcher in the field of Geometric group theory who was not present at the convocation. DSc was also given to noted Physicist Prof Amitava Ray Chowdhury.

Seven students were bestowed PhD for the first time from the university.
