The Election Commission of Pakistan today rejected a case of disqualification against opposition politician Imran Khan in connection to his alleged offshore companies and sources of income.
The case was based on the references filed with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq by lawmakers of ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in August to disqualify 64-year-old Khan from parliament.
The Speaker approved the case and sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold judicial hearing and take further action to unseat him.
A five-member ECP bench headed by chief election commissioner Sardar Raza Khan in the verdict rejected the disqualification pleas.
