Hamilton, 46, has established himself as one of the world's top big show directors, overseeing the Oscars, the MTV Video Music Awards and concerts for Neil Diamond, U2, Robbie Williams, the Rolling Stones, the Spice Girls and Christina Aquilera, reported Daily Star.
Now he is to be honoured with a special award at the Bafta Craft Awards next month.
"I am surprised and a little emotional... It is great to be recognised for work that surrounds me with so many talented friends," he said.
Actor Stephen Mangan has signed up to host the 2013 Craft Awards, which recognises behind-the-scenes talent.
