Hours after being sworn-in as the Haryana Chief Minister, Manohar Lal Khattar today urged the elected representatives of the state and the bureaucrats that the welfare of the people should be their ultimate aim.

Presiding over his first meeting with administrative secretaries and the heads of government departments here, the Chief Minister said that along with politicians, bureaucrats also share the responsibility for running the government, said an official spokesman.

"All the officers should perform their duties with the utmost dedication in the interest of the people of the state," Khattar said.

"It is our joint responsibility to work for the welfare of the people," the official quoted Khattar as having said.

He also lauded the officers for the peaceful conduct of the Assembly elections in the state. Besides Khattar, all nine new Haryana Cabinet ministers were present at the meeting.

Earlier, while welcoming the Chief Minister and his Cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary Shakuntala Jakhu said that the state has a competent team of officers who will work to realise the motto of 'Minimum Government-Maximum Governance' which has been adopted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

She assured the new state Cabinet that all the officers, under the able guidance of the Chief Minister, would work to implement the schemes in the same spirit in which they were launched.
