Har govt to provide soil health cards to farmers in 3 years

Haryana government today said it has set a target of providing soil health cards to all farmers of the state within three years under the 'Soil Health Card Scheme'.
Bikram Singh Yadav, state Minister for Cooperation and Agriculture said increasing agricultural production depends on soil fertility and the farmers should get soil of their fields tested.
The state government has been laying special emphasis on providing facility of soil testing to farmers.
Thirty seven soil testing laboratories have been set up by the Agriculture department in the state, of which three mobile soil testing laboratories are located at sub-division and district levels.

Apart from this, the facility was also being provided through 11 'Krishi Vigyan Kendras' run by the Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar.
Yadav said that after testing, fertilizers should be used in right quantity, ratio, manner and at the right time to fulfil the requirement of nutrients.
It has been seen that farmers make excessive use of urea to increase their produce and less use of potash and micro nutrients which results in less produce due to imbalanced use of fertilizers. Also, it affects the soil fertility, the Minister said.
He added that state was providing 75 per cent subsidy to farmers on purchase of micro nutrient fertilizers and farmers should take benefit of it.
