Haryana cop arrested for taking bribe

An assistant sub-inspector was arrested today by the vigilance department of Hayrana police while accpeting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh, police said.
During interrogation, it was revealed that ASI Jagdish Ram took the money on behalf of ASI Jatinder Kumar and SHO Kaithal, who had assured to extend favour in a case registered against Gurmeet Singh, a resident of Mauli Jagran.
A case under Prevention of Corruption Act and other sections of the IPC has been registered aganst Jagish Ram, who is posted with the security team at the Chief Minister's residence, ASI Jatinder Kumar and SHO Kaithal, a release said.

According to a complaint received by the police, a total amount of Rs 13 lakh was demanded by the tainted officers as bribe, out of which, Rs 5 lakh was paid as first installment in April this year, police said adding, investigations are on.
