V K Chaudhary, Director (Operations), DHBVN said here today the DHBVN has taken a policy decision to install APFC capacitor banks on all the power transformers at 33 KV substations under construction in the area of the Nigam and the capacitors will be installed on all the existing transformers.
With the installation of the capacitor bank, there will be considerable improvement in power factor which would lead to reduction in reactive energy drawls in the system, he said.
The capacitors also correct and stabilise voltage level.
He said that wherever the APFC capacitor banks have been installed the intended benefits are being reaped in terms of reduction in reactive energy drawl and technical losses.
Chaudhary said there are 260 substations of 33 KV level in the area of the DHBVN and 35 substations of this level are under construction.
