Haryana mulls setting up sports, skill development varsities

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said state government is considering to set up three universities in the state including sports and skill development varsities.
The state government is considering setting up a sports university in the state with the objective to produce quality postgraduates in related subjects and to promote sports education, Khattar said here today.
Besides, a University for Skill Development will be set up in the state and an education university is also being considered, he said addressing the participants on the concluding day of brainstorming workshop 'Smagra Shiksha-Mukt Vimarsh' here today.
Only good teachers could improve the quality of education at all levels, he said.
The government would introduce School Leadership Training courses for teachers at the time of their promotions while breaking a new path in service training by signing MoUs with premier community based organisations active in this field, he said.
While assuring to take all possible steps for improving education system, the Chief Minister said that quality education and nation building is among the priority sector of the government.
Khattar asked the participants to provide valuable outcomes of the workshop to the government so that the same could be incorporated one-by-one while designing futuristic strategies of education sector.
The suggestions and recommendations of the workshop would also be added in the programme of Haryana Institute of Public Administration, he said.
Over mapping of educational institutes, the Chief Minister said that mapping of schools and colleges was being done to establish new institutes as per the requirement of the region.
Describing the human resource development as a key factor, the Chief Minister said that future of the state and the nation rests on this.
"Today, human has become self-centric and this tendency can only by changed with emphasis on imparting moral values through education. The education at all levels starting from primary, higher, technical, skills etc should be such that an individual is able to work in the best interest of society, state and country," he said.
The Chief Minister emphasized on the need to adopt best practices for bridging the gap between quality of education in urban and rural areas.
