Justice K K Sasidharan, while issuing notice to the Special Government pleader for his reply before November 4, directed him to get instructions as to whether government had directed the Dharmapuri District Magistrate and Collector, to extend the period of prohibitory order so as to keep it in operation for a period beyond two months.
The notice was issued on a petition filed by A.Saravanan, State Deputy General Secretary of Pattali Makkal Katchi.
The petitioner submitted that in view of Lok Sabha polls, due next year, political parties have started preparing for it.
The petitioner said the ban order was first promulgated on November 7 last year following clash between two communities, in Natham Colony in the District, and prayed to quash it.
The order was passed on the eve of the marriage between a Dalit youth Ilavarasan and Hindu Girl Divya and as a result her father committed suicide following which some dalit colonies were attacked. Later Elavarasan was found dead in a suspicious manner and investigation and legal proceedings are pending. Clashes again broke account during a festival conducted by the PMK's youth wing.
