HC moved for booking all those projecting women in bad taste

Questioning the swift action by Tamil Nadu police in booking Tamil actor Simbu over a controversial 'beep' song, a petition was today filed in the Madras High Court seeking registration of FIR against all those who project women in bad taste in all mediums, including films.
Petitioner P Balambal, a senior woman advocate with 34 years of practice in the high court, sought a direction to the police to take action and register FIR like in the case of 'Beepsong' episode against all those who project women in bad taste and insult them.
The Coimbatore Police had recently registered the case against Simbu and music composer Anirudh Ravichandran following a complaint from the local unit of All India Democratic Women's Association that the song allegedly contained vulgar lyrics denigrating women.

Another case had also been registered by Chennai police against the two in connection with the song.
In her petition, the 60-year old lawyer submitted that the police have registered the case without knowing the true meaning of the words mixed with beep sound in the song. They also did not know the person who was instrumental in uploading it in the Youtube or the source/country of uploading, she claimed.
She sought to know whether the police would exhibit same swiftness and follow-up action in all situations and against all persons who project women in bad taste, insulting women's modesty not only in TV media and press but also in films, particularly in film songs, song sequences, dialogues, and picturisation meant for public view.

If the police were really interested in safeguarding the modesty and decent culture, they should take action against all concerned whoever projects women in bad taste as had been done in the case of beep song, she said seeking a direction to the police in this regard.
