Heavy rains damage roads and houses

Heavy rains since last night lashed the district today and several low lying areas were waterlogged, official sources said.
There was no major incident reported from any corner of the district the district disaster control reported late in the evening.
Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell In-charge Santosh Kadam told PTI that a large section of road in Wagle Estate gor washed away due to heavy rains.
He also said that firemen received several calls after trees fell. Waterlogging was reported in the Nalpada area and more than 40 houses were submerged underwater for hours, he said.
Occupants of these houses have been taken to safer locations, he said.
