Heavy rains, snow predicted in Himachal in next 48 hours

The MeT department today predicted heavy rains in lower and mid hills and heavy to very heavy snowfall in higher hills and tribal areas during the next 48 hours.
The MeT office predicted thundershowers at many places in lower hills, rains in mid hills and snow at many places in higher hills and tribal areas till March 6.
Kalpa received 12 cm of fresh snow while Reckong Peo and Keylong had traces of snow.
Kheri and Chamba received 2 mm of rain while Manali had sharp showers in the afternoon.
There was marginal fluctuation in the minimum temperature and Kalpa and Keylong in the tribal Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti were the coldest at night with a low of minus 7.2 degrees and minus 5.3 degrees.
The key tourist destinations of Manali, Dalhousie and Shimla recorded minimum temperatures at 0.6 degree, 1.4 degrees and 5. 4 degrees followed by Solan 5.6 degrees, Bhuntar 5.9 degrees, Una 6.2 degrees, Sundernagar 6.6 degrees, Hamirpur 7.4 degrees, Chamba 8.3 degrees, Kangra, Bilaspur and Dharamshala 8. 4 degrees each and Nahan 11. 2 degrees Celsius.
The maximum temperature increased by 1 to 2 degrees and Una was hottest in the day with high of 25.2 degrees followed by Nahan 21.7 degrees, Kangra 21. 1 degrees, Solan 18.5 degrees, Sundernagar and Dharamshala 18.4 degrees each, Bhuntar 16.2 degrees and Shimla 13.6 degrees Celsius.
Himachal which received 38 per cent rains during monsoon received 15 per cent excess rains From January 1 to February 28 and all districts except Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti recorded more than normal rainfall.
The state on an average received 212.5 mm rains against normal rainfall of 185 mm while Sirmaur and Lahaul-Spiti recorded 23 per cent and 9 per cent deficient rains.
